Coincidentally, my Grandparents live near the Singer Tract, which was once a forest with ancient long leaf pines where the Ivory Billed Woodpecker could be found. After logging and tree loss due to suppression of necessary fires, the woodpeckers are gone as are most of the old big trees. The long believed extinct Ivory Bill was re-discovered in the Pearl River Drainage in 2005.Saturday, December 6, 2008

Georgia's like that too, but thanks to the logging company planted pines we have about 8 million Deer that you can crash into at 4am...
Ouch! Life whichever way things goes will always have its challenges, no?
And, I love the fancy gold decorations on the old Singer. Amazing how people crafted things back in those days, don't you think?
