Let us all please take a moment to say a prayer or think positive thoughts, whatever it is that you do as this giant hurricane approaches. My family is in the path but more centrally located. Hopefully the trees and powerlines will stay up this time, and that there will be no tornadoes.Sunday, August 31, 2008
Gustav May Get My Family
Let us all please take a moment to say a prayer or think positive thoughts, whatever it is that you do as this giant hurricane approaches. My family is in the path but more centrally located. Hopefully the trees and powerlines will stay up this time, and that there will be no tornadoes.

I can not believe another hurricane is hitting the southern portion again. It is just plain crazy. Hopefully all will be well.
They're in our prayers. We're hoping for the best. We love you guys.
I'd Keep Playin, Don't think the heavy stuffs coming down for quite some while...
Were they OK? It looks like it was not as bas as they first had anticipated, but of course, when you are hit head on, that does not mean much to you...
bas? I meant *bad* sorry. :-)
So far so good. No power but so far fine. The eye won't pass over them until the early am though. I suppose they'll have to worry about tornadoes on the backside though. Hopefully that won't happen.
Thanks for asking.
Just to let everyone know...the storm is "mostly" passed and we're just enjoying the much needed rain. We've topped about 2.5 inches so far. We were w/o power for a little under 16 hours--which wasn't so bad. Around ten this morning friends of ours (who still had their power intact) brought a generator and and fan to our house to "recharge" our two refrigerators and help us cool down with the fan. Before they returned, however, the power company came by and "flipped the switch" at least symbolicly and we were back in business! YooHoo!
Thanks to all prayers and good hopes in our (and everyone else in Gustav's path) behalf.
I think Houma, and Alexandria, and Baton Rouge--all Louisiana cities--really got messed up. It's amazing to think that Alexandria almost smack dab in the middle of the state received Gustav as a Cat. 1 hurricane!!! That's crazy. Earlier today they were 100% w/o power and water. Baton Rouge was blasted with 90 mph winds and still wasn't out of the storm at 1:00 pm today. And now, Hurricane Ike is closing in fast on the Gulf of Mexico!
Batten down--or keep those hatches battened down! We are so grateful for the blessings we've received thus far!!!
Hey Amy how's it going? I so miss all the old Tucson friends and I haven't actually stayed in touch with anyone! Sad I know. Just thought I would say hello and hopefully you get this. Good luck on your move and come check my blogout anytime you want!
